Lt. Col. Alvin A. Salge

Lt. Col. Alvin A. Salge is a retired USAF F-4 Fighter Electronic Warfare Officer. He served in Vietnam with 201 combat missions and in Germany, Iran, Headquarters Pacific Air Force Command, and the Pentagon. He is currently Chair of the Santa Barbara County Veterans Advisory Commission, Commander of Solvang VFW Post 7139, Solvang Chamber of Commerce Military Liaison to Vandenberg AFB, and Vice Chair of Support the Troops Board of Directors. In these roles, he is assisting in implementing new policies to assist county veterans, revitalizing the VFW Post and increasing its membership, supporting the outstanding VAFB Air Force and Space Force Members and Civilians, and supporting the Support the Troops’ care packages sent to Service men and women in overseas assignments.

Lt. Col. Salge graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1966. He entered the USAF in 1966 and was commissioned in 1967 through the Officer Training School. His tours included Vietnam, Germany, US AFBs, Tehran Iran, Hawaii, and the Pentagon. He retired from the USAF in 1987 and became a Program/Business Development Manager for Science Applications International Corporation, Hughes Aircraft, and Raytheon until 2008. He is currently retired from his professional career and living in the Santa Ynez Valley.
